Curiosities

Tijuca Forest - Who walks for the Tijuca Florest amid so much natural beauty today can’t imagine that one day it was almost totally devasted due to coffee plantations. During thirteen years the Major Archer, in the beginning working with 6 slaves and after with 22 salaried workers, planted about 100 thousand seedlings of native species from neighboring farms in Paineiras, in Jacarepaguá or from Virgin forests of the region of Guaratiba along the western coast of City. Now, the Tijuca Florest occupy an area of 3.200 hectares embedded in the center of Rio de Janeiro City.
